US stocks rose at the open on Monday following confirmation that the al- Qaeda leader was killed by US forces, as investors stripped some of risk premium underpinning risky asset prices.

US stocks rose at the open on Monday following confirmation that al- Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces, as investors stripped some of risk premium underpinning risky asset prices.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 62.59 points, or 0.49%, at 12,873.13. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 5.67 points, or 0.42%, at 1,369.28. The Nasdaq Composite Index put on 8.37 points, or 0.29%, at 2,881.91.
