A new book has offered insights into Queen Mother’s love for food and her life as a hostess.

She was renowned for her love of entertaining, regularly throwing extravagant parties serving a mouth-watering array of gastronomic delight.

The book A Taste of Mey includes a variety of anecdotes and recipes contributed by friends of the royal family, members of the staff and even her favourite grandson Prince Charles, reports the Daily Express.

The Queen Mother often used to say that the secret of contentment is knowing how to enjoy what you have and the book is based on how she followed this philosophy.

According to the book, every meal of the Queen Mother was planned carefully and she and her staff went to great lengths to ensure that guests at her home in Caithness had as enjoyable a stay as possible.
