About 100 doctors and medicos, including women, staged a dharna in front of the resident medical officer's office at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital here today, seeking protection while on duty, following reported threats by a political party worker to one of them.
Doctors said a man, reportedly a member of Tamil Nadu Muslim
Munnetra Kazhakam approached the blood bank to donate blood to a patient. As there was some delay in paperwork, he reportedly
entered into argument with a post graduate medical student,
resulting in a wordy quarrel, they said.
The doctors and medicos squatted in front of the RMO's office for nearly half an hour and sought protection, alleging that the man had spoken in a threatening tone and sought action against him, police said.
RMO Sivaprakasam assured them that adequate security would be provided to them in the hospital, they said.
