Celebrity plastic surgeon Frank Ryan, whose Hollywood clients included reality starlet Heidi Montag and rock star Gene Simmons, died in a car crash here on Monday. He was 50.

Ryan raised eyebrows earlier this year after conducting 10 operations in one day on Montag, star of the reality TV show The Hills.

The procedures included breast and buttock augmentations, a nose job, a new chin and liposuction.

"He was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was an angel. He changed my life and the lives of everyone he met," Montag, 23, wrote on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

"He was the most brilliant and talented surgeon ever. My thoughts and prayers go out to his mother, family, friends, and anyone who was ever blessed enough to meet him."

Kiss rock band's front man Simmons and his partner Shannon Tweed received facelifts from Ryan, documenting the process in their reality TV series Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

Ryan's other clients included Motley Crue singer Vince Neil and actor Lorenzo Lamas.

Ryan died after his car veered off a cliff on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu in California's Los Angeles county on Monday.

Ryan's website stated that his life would be celebrated at a candlelight vigil at Zuma Beach, Malibu, on Tuesday night.
