Best views of 'shooting stars' expected over next two days

Skywatchers are expecting to get the best views of the "shooting stars" over the next two days, when the Lyrid meteor shower reaches its peak.

Between 10 and 20 meteors per hour can be visible under ideal conditions.

Experts have said that the naked eye is best for watching the meteors and binoculars or telescopes are not required, reported BBC.

But they also said the shower is fickle as light from the Moon, which is in a so-called gibbous phase, could interfere with observations this year.

Star gazers are advised to watch in the wee hours to get their best views of the meteors.
