At least eight persons, including two activists of banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in a suicide attack in the southwestern Pakistan city of Quetta that killed 11 people and injured over 40 others.

Eight persons were arrested during raids conducted in various parts of Quetta late last night and taken to an undisclosed place, police said.

However, they declined to name the arrested persons.

Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a group that has often targeted the minority Shia community, claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on a hospital in Quetta yesterday.

The attacker blew himself up when a large number of people gathered outside the emergency ward of Quetta's Civil Hospital to protest the killing of a member of the minority Shia community.
