The call to #repealthe19 comes after a survey suggested that Trump would win if only men voted for him
It doesn't matter that we're in the 21st century and every individual is equal, living in a democracy, having the fundamental right to vote for their elected representative. Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump's supporters have started a petition requesting a repeal of Amendment 19 of the US Constitution that gives women the fundamental right to vote.
The hashtag repealthe19th began trending on Twitter after a survey showed that Trump would win the elections if only men were had the right to vote.
The series of events began when data from a Public Religion Research Institute poll conducted on behalf of The Atlantic, identified a massive gender split between men and women. It shows that that Hillary Clinton trails Trump by 11 points among men but leads him by 33 points among women.
They worked out that Clinton would win 458 electoral votes to just 80 for Trump, while conversely Donald would win 350 votes to 188 for Clinton.
It's not just the average American woman, who speaks out against Trump, Republican supporter and writer Marybeth Glenn put out a series of tweets where she even called Trump a 'sexual predator'. Glenn put out 17 tweets where she accused the Republican Party of rampant sexism. "So let me get this straight: I, a conservative female, have spent years defending the Republican Party against claims of sexism. When I saw Republican men getting attacked I stood up for them and fought on their behalf."
Glenn said that when she faced criticism from other women over her beliefs, she still "fought on behalf of a movement" for the party she supported.
Addressing Trump's entry into the presidential race, Glenn said that the decision to vote for Trump or to elect him into office would impact the Republican Party forever. Her tweets in which she also describes Trump as a "sexual predator" went viral overnight. Though many Republican politicians have criticised Trump following his comments about women, Glenn said they need to do more for the sake of their "dignity and reputation."
Her tweets prompted thousands of responses, most of which were positive and supportive. Glenn said the response has been "amazing and unexpected."
So it's safe to say that if Donald Trump loses this election, it will be because women voted against him and you can't really blame them for their action.
