One of the most popular sitcoms on Televsion, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has clocked 10 years. The TV show which is based on journalist Taarak Mehta's column titled Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma for a Gujarati magazine has become a favourite among families and kids alike over the past decade. The show has completed over 2500 episodes so far and is still going pretty strong.

Not many are aware of the fact that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is the longest running Indian sitcom to make it to the Limca Book of World Records.

Dilip Joshi, who plays the character of Jethalal Gada on TMKOC was quoted as saying by Mumbai Mirror, "I knew the concept was good because Taarak Mehta was a legendary writer, whose works I have been reading since childhood. Producer Asit bhai (Modi) offered me the role and I loved it but the show lasting for 10 years is a miracle. I would often feel that I was repeating myself, but we have been safe since its a comedy. And because of that, fans want it to go on."

Joshi also shared that then the fans visit the sets, they expect that Disha Vakani (who plays Daya in the show) will speak exactly as she does on the  show. TMKOC airs from Monday to Friday at 8:30 pm on SAB TV.
