India at CWG 2018: Para Powerlifter Sachin Chaudhary wins India's 6th bronze

It was India's first medal in para-sports at CWG 2018.

India ended with 21 medals at the end of day 6 of the Commonwealth Games including 11 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals. While Heena Sidhu won a gold in shooting, para powerlifter Sachin Chaudhary won India's sixth bronze medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. 

Chaudhary lifted 201kg to total 181 points to finish third in the event.

Nigeria's Abdulazeez Ibrahim took Gold with 191.9 points while Malaysia Yee Khie Jong clinched Silver with 188.7 points.

It was India's first medal in para-sports at CWG 2018. India remained third in the medals' tally with 11 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals at the end of the day.

India's Farman Basha finished fifth in the men's Lightweight category of the Para Powerlifting competition. Basha struggled to get going, failing in two of his three attempts.

He was never in medal contention, failing to lift 138 kilograms in his first attempt.

He then had a succesful lift of 140kg in his second attempt before failing at 150kg in his final attempt for a total of 169.4 points.

Ashok, the second Indian in the fray, finished last in the field of 11 competitors as he could not manage a single successful attempt.

Nigeria took the top two spots with Roland Ezuruike and Paul Kehinde bagging gold and silver respectively.

England's Ali Jawad got the bronze.
