RCF took an early lead through Prateek Joshi in the 8th minute. Customs quickly hit back, when Neil Gaikwad with a clinical finish found the back of the net in the very next minute.
The creator of the goal was midfielder Melroy Fernandes, whose precise through pass set-up Gaikwad and the latter, did not disappoint as he beat advancing RCF custodian Asif Ansari with deft tap-in.
With both the clubs adopting an attacking approach the proceedings of the match were fairly exciting.
Later in the game, Customs’ playmaker Praneel Mendon failed to capitalise on a weak clearance from a RCF defender as he hastily shot straight to goalkeeper Ansari from the edge of the box.
Customs wing back Ashirwad Hedge had a busy day in office switching between defending and creating openings for his team. In the 84th minute he made a good run down the right and chipped across the rival goal.
Teammate Hekmat Singh made a great bicycle attempt which was blocked by goalkeeper Ansari and before Jinto Jose could cause damage to the RCF goal their defender Vimal Soman cleared the ball in the nick of time.
Four minutes later, Hedge with a clever forward pass put Sidhant Pathak in the clear. The striker advanced deep into the rival box but could not direct his shot on goal.
