Over 1000 police personnel, three teams of bomb disposal squads, specially trained commandos and four companies of State Reserve Police have been deployed.
Not willing to take any chances, Gujarat police have made robust security arrangements for the India-South Africa one-dayer to be played here tomorrow, police officials said today.
Over 1000 police personnel, three teams of bomb disposal squads (BDS), specially trained commandos and four companies of State Reserve Police (SRP) have been deployed at the Sardar Patel Stadium at Motera and at the hotel where the players are
staying, they said.
"Robust security is in place at the stadium and the players' hotel as a precautionary measure as we do not want to take any chances," joint commissioner of police (JCP) Satish Sharma said.
"Over 1,000 police personnel including 134 officers, 400 policemen, 100 women constables, two companies of home guards including one of women team have been deployed for the match," Sharma said.
He said that two platoons of Chetak commandos, two BDS and dog squads have been deployed at the stadium.
Sharma, however, said there was no any alert or threat warning issued by the intelligence agencies.
Four companies of the State Reserve Police have been deployed at the stadium with two team of Quick Response Team (QRT) and a team of horse patrol, Sharma said.
One BDS, two QRTs, 300 policemen and over 34 officers have been deployed at the hotel itself for security, he added.
The entire area surrounding the hotel has been cordoned off. A big screen of nearly 25 feet high has been put in front of the hotel entrance so that nothing inside could be visible from the road-side.
The hotel has been converted into fortress with police personnel surrounding the building.
Occupants of building near the hotel have been asked to keep their windows and doors facing the hotel closed for the next two days till the teams leave.
State police had sent a team of top officials to Jaipur to see what all security arrangements were made during the ODI there.
Security arrangements have been put in place here after taking in inputs from Jaipur.
