India-Australia series will be a close one, says Steve Waugh

Former Australian cricket captain Steve Waugh on Friday said that the upcoming India-Australia series, which begins from October 25, will be a close one as India would be looking forward to display a better performance after their disappointing Champions Trophy campaign. India will host Australia for a seven game one-day international series.

“It would be exciting time for cricket over here. We have done overseas very well recently India disappointing in the champions trophy but one-day cricket changes quickly.
India has got a quality side and it will be a close series. I do not know who is going to win but I got a feeling that the score will be 4-3,” Waugh told reporters in New Delhi.

Waugh who was in India to gather funds for Steve Waugh foundation said sports persons should use their positions for some philanthropic causes.

“Sports people have lot power to do good because they have influence. They can raise money and lot of people look up to sports people so if they can channel that into good area for example charity then they can make a big impact,” Waugh added.

Many cricketers apart from Steve Waugh have been a part of social causes to raise funds for humanitarian efforts. The Steve Waugh foundation will help change things for children with rare diseases and give hope to their families who have nowhere to turn.

The foundation would also raise awareness towards increase in international cooperation in the service, identification and treatment of rare diseases among children.
