Actress Deepika Padukone's sister Anisha grabbed the honours for 'longest drive' in silver division, while Delhi school student Lavery Kumar won the title in all four categories.

CHENNAI: Actress Deepika Padukone's sister Anisha grabbed the honours for 'longest drive' in silver division, while Delhi school student Lavery Kumar won the title in all four categories in gold and junior divisions after the first round of the Indian Golf Union's Madras Ladies Golf championship here on Tuesday.
    
Padukone, a 14-handicapper, claimed the prize driving the ball to a distance of 210 yards in the 410-yard second hole.
    
Competing in the silver division meant for handicappers from 13-24, Padukone finished way behind the leaders in both gross and nett categories. Pune's Arya M Tikenekar led with a round of 86 followed by Chennai's Premlatha Ramraj (87). S Lakshmi and Mita Gowade were on 88 after the first round in gross section. Tikenekar also led in nett category along with Lakshmi, both carding 70, with Premalatha following in on 72.
    
In hot and humid conditions, 13-year old Lavery, with a handicap of three, played steadily to lead the field with a round of 75 in gross and 71 in the nett section. Former champion Shruti Khanna Sodhi, a two-handicapper, tallied 77 in gross for second place. She carded 75 to be in third place in nett division.
    
Mehar Atwal, of Delhi Golf Club, totalled 78 for third place in gross section.
    
The event witnessed 21 junior players in the age group of 13-19 and included two mother and daughter combines of Bela and Raksha Phadke and Baljit Kaur and Lavery.
   
Amongst the seniors, former Indian international, Lalitha Balasubramaniam (Gross-86 and Nett-78) and Sumi Naniya (gross-96) were the leaders, while in the Handicap section, Jayshree Bharath and Susie Kurien were breathing down the neck of Lalitha with a nett of 79 each.

Silver Division: Open: 86-Arya M Tikenekar, 87-Premlatha, 88-S Lakshmi and Mita Gowade and Handicap: 70-Arya Tikenekar and S Lakshmi and 72- Premlatha Ramraj, Bronze Division: Open: 105- Susie Kurien and 111-Bela Phadke and Handicap: 79-susie Kurien and 80-Palomi Jain and Juniors: Open: 75-Lavery Kumar and 78-meha Atwal and Handicap: 71-Lavery Kumar and 75-Neha Tripathy and Akrathy Singh.
