South Africa - India series: From Big Five's den

Tuesday, 10 December 2013 - 10:35am IST | Agency: DNA

South Africa name unchanged squad
Cricket South Africa’s selection panel has not made any changes to the 15-member squad for the two Tests against India from the one that played against Pakistan in the UAE recently. Graeme Smith, who is part of the ODI squad against MS Dhoni & Co. but hasn’t played the two games thus far, will return to lead the side in the

two-match Test series. For the record, there are four fast bowlers –– Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Vernon Philander and Rory Kleinveldt –– and two spinners –– Robin Peterson
(left-arm orthodox) and Imran Tahir (leggie) in the squad. Thami Tsolekile is the reserve wicketkeeper. The first Test will be held in Johannesburg from December 18-22. Durban will host the second match from December 26-30.

Squad: Graeme Smith (C), AB de Villiers (VC & WK), Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Imran Tahir, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Morne Morkel, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile (WK)

Indian players miss Test series launch
No Indian player was present at the launch of the two-match Test series in Pietermaritzmurg on Monday. MS Dhoni & Co. had a flight to catch –– Durban to Johannesburg –– alright, but there’s more than meets the eye.

A certain Haroon Lorgat presided over the function which was attended by South African stars AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, Morne Morkel and Imran Tahir. Sources say that Team India were clearly told to stay away from the controversial CEO of Cricket South Africa. No wonder they skipped the launch.
