Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim, who had a torrid time in the field, finally got the rub of the green going his way as he survived a close run out appeal on the third day of the one-off Test against India in Hyderabad.

Rahim batted out of his skins and stitched a 100-run partnership with Shakib Al Hasan who scored a valiant 82. But the skipper should consider himself lucky as his bat ditched him when he needed it the most.

It all began when Shakib went for a quick run after driving a Ravichandran Ashwin Rahim responded and hurried to complete the single but Ravindra Jadeja fired in a throw at the wicket-keeper's end where Wriddhiman Saha collected the ball and disturbed the stumps as Rahim dived full length to get into his crease.

The decision was referred to the umpire in air conditioned room and TV replays showed that it was a 'touch and go' situation. As Rahim dived, the shoulder of his bat touched the ground and the front portion got lifted in the air and it was then that Saha removed the bails. The commentators were convinced it was 'out' because when the bails were dislodged, no part of Rahim's bat was in contact with the ground with only the shoulder touching the crease. However, the third umpire decided to give the benefit of doubt to the batsman and Rahim carried on with his lone battle against a massive score. Former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull who was in the commentary box, was left shocked with the decision.

The visitors had a good second session and reached 246 for six at Tea. They were still 441 runs behind India's mammoth first innings total of 687.
