Tesla may make electric cars, but they're a far cry from the plodding machines of a few years ago. Tesla models come with an "Insane" mode and an even faster "Ludicrous" mode, that turn the car into a speed demon. And a couple decided to put that to the test.

The video has the couple racing two Tesla models with Ludicrous mode, the husband and amateur drag racer is driving a Model S P90D (the Sedan variant) against his wife, and first time drag racer, in a Model X P90D (the SUV variant). While both cars have the same dual motor powertrain, outputting a combined 532 HP with Ludicrous, it's important to note that the Model X is about 270 kg heavier than the Model S and, being an SUV, doesn't have the same aerodynamics.

Of course, the Model S wins, but it's still fun to watch both vehicles leap off the starting point. DragTimes has their best time for the Model S at 11.24 seconds for the quarter mile, capping at 118.5 mph (190.7 kph) while the Model X managed to clock 11.61 seconds at 116 mph (186.6 kph), making it, by their estimate, the fastest production SUV in existence. And in case you weren't impressed enough, the Model X accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. That's what Tesla calls an SUV. Let that sink in as you watch the video.
