Hang onto your hats folks, Twitter is either about to get really entertaining or really annoying. The company today patched their platform to support larger GIFs on web upto 15MB.

While there was no announcement, the update is visible on the Twitter help page saying, "Photos can be up to 5MB; animated GIFs can be up to 5MB on mobile, and up to 15MB on web."

Clearly, Twitter wants its users to feel unencumbered by its traditional limitations. Earlier this year, they also announced they would be updating the platform so tagged Twitter handles and media attachments would no longer count towards your character limit.

In fact, even Twitter-owned Vine app earlier increased its 6-second limit to 140 seconds.
