OnePlus 3T vs OnePlus 3: What's the difference?

Compared to the OnePlus 3, the device will come with a faster processor, larger battery, more internal storage and a better front camera.

Even though the OnePlus 3 launched earlier this year, Chinese smartphone manufacturers OnePlus have already launched a successor to the device, the OnePlus 3T. The upgraded version of the smartphone comes with the same specifications except for a faster processor, larger battery, more internal storage and a better front camera.

The OnePlus 3T will be available for purchase in the US starting from November 22 while Europe will be getting the device on November 26. There are currently no detailed revealed about the launch for the Indian market, although it is expected that the smartphone will be launched in India sometime after the US launch. The 64GB version will cost $439 (Approximately Rs 29,800), while the 128GB model is priced $479 (Approximately Rs 32,500).

Coming to the difference, the OnePlus 3T is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz (as opposed to the Snapdragon 820 on the OnePlus 3) coupled with an Adreno 530 GPU. OnePlus has also improved the camera resolution on its new device, the OnePlus 3T will come will a 16-megapixel front camera doubling up on the 8-megapixels on the OnePlus 3. The device will also come with a larger 3,400 battery, compared to the 3,000mAh battery on its predecessor and will be available in non-expandable 64GB and 128GB internal storage options, the original was only available in 64GB. 

Apart from that, the specifications of both smartphones are the same. The OnePlus 3T sports a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection with full HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution. The device will also come with 6GB RAM and 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0  aperture, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), and PDAF.

The smartphone will pack a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button, USB 2.0 Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and will be available in two colour options: Gunmetal and Soft Gold.
