It seems gaming giant Konami is bending towards casual gaming, with reports now saying the company will be shifting it's main focus from consoles to mobile gaming.

The studio behind gaming classics like Contra, Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill, Konami is not the first gaming company to make the  switch to the mobile gaming platform. Earlier in March, Nintendo also announced that it would begin tailoring some of it's classic titles for a mobile gaming experience, something the company has always been against. The information about Konami comes from an interview on Japan-based Nikkei Trendy Net, which was later translated by a NeoGaf user here

The piece has Konami President Hideki Hayakawa telling the interviewer that, "Konami will pursue mobile games aggressively. Gaming has spread to a number of platforms, but at the end of the day, the platform that is always closest to us, is mobile. Mobile is where the future of gaming lies." He continued to say that they would be switching to a "pay-as-you-play" model and, though their console titles like Metal Gear Solid V and Winning Eleven would continue to release abroad, their focus at home would be mobile gaming.

Come on Konami, don't die on me now!
