In a post on Twitter, Samsung Mobile India teased the launch of its flagship smartphones!
Samsung will launch the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in India on April 19. The company made the announcement via a tweet and stated, “India, get ready to #UnboxYourPhone! Samsung #GalaxyS8 #GalaxyS8Plus, India launch on 19th April 2017.” The smartphones are already up for pre-registrations in the country. However, we have no idea as to how the company will price the Galaxy S8 series in India.
In India, Samsung will release the Galaxy S8 smartphones with the Exynos 8995 octa-core processor instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which will only be limited to international markets such as the US.
In terms of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S8 features a 5.8-inch QHD+ display with a 1440x2960 pixels resolution. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus sports a 6.2-inch QHD+ display with a 440x2960 pixels resolution. Both devices will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC. They will be powered by an octa-core 10nm processor, paired with 4GB of RAM. It will come equipped with an internal storage of 64GB which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD card.
The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are equipped with an advanced 8MP F1.7 Smart autofocus front camera and 12MP F1.7 Dual Pixel rear camera for low-light, zoom and anti-blur photos with enhanced image processing. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are backed up by a 3000mAh and 3500mAh battery respectively.
Just a few days after launch, the company stated that the new Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will not include one highlight feature – AI-powered Bixby assistant. This was a key feature which was set to debut on the new smartphones. At the moment, the reason for this delayed has not been established. Bixby enters a crowded field of digital assistants powered by artificial intelligence that includes Apple's Siri, Google Assistant, Microsoft’s Cortana and Amazon's Alexa. Samsung said Bixby will focus on letting people control mobile apps with spoken directives.
Samsung stated, “With its intelligent interface and contextual awareness, Bixby will make your phone more helpful by assisting in completing tasks, telling you what you're looking at, learning your routine and remembering what you need to do. Key features of Bixby, including Vision, Home and Reminder, will be available with the global launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 on April 21. Bixby Voice will be available in the US on the Galaxy S8 later this spring.”
