The multiplayer component of future-themed action game "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" has been unveiled ahead of the game's release on November 4.

Five character classes specializing in mid-range, long range, and close quarters combat, as well as heavy infantry, stealth, and tactical support are shown in the reel.specializing in mid-range, long range, and close quarters combat, as well as heavy infantry, stealth, and tactical support are shown in the reel.

Aspects of the mode's weaponry, perk, and loadout systems are also demonstrated.

The game is adopting a science fiction setting, continuing on from the trends of "Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare" (2014) and "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" (2015), but despite the diverse range of arenas players can leap around in, there are no overtly outer space-themed environments shown, a new element in the franchise that had upset some of its fans.

Part of the first-person shooter genre, "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" joins Activision stablemate "Destiny: Rise of Iron" (September 2016) and Electronic Arts' "Titanfall 2" (October 2016) in its use of a futuristic backdrop; EA's "Battlefield 1" (also October) is going the other way with a World War I context.
