The list of victims of conman Ashok Jadeja is expanding day by day. On Thursday, a superintendent of police from Haryana, Anil Rao, was in Ahmedabad to meet CID (Crime) officials in connection with the complaints of 48 members of Chhara community from Haryana.

The complaints say the victims had paid Rs32 lakh to Jadeja so that they could get triple the amount, but the conman had duped all of them.

Incidentally, in Rajasthan where Jadeja held many programmes, one particular programme in Barmer had been organised at a cost of Rs15 lakh. The CID (Crime) which had demanded the services of chartered accountants (CAs) for auditing Jadeja’s accounts got the sanction from the home department today. Accordingly, Pimpa Rao and Co, a CA firm, has been appointed for checking Jadeja’s accounts.

The police are also looking for Naroda-based Kaushik Rathod of Utsav Video who had videographed Jadeja’s programmes. The CID has also seized 18 documents of land purchases made by Jadeja near Kadi. The conman is also believed to have purchased land worth Rs70 lakh at Kedia Vasna village. The land was purchased in the name of Bipin Barot, a friend of Jadeja. Meanwhile, members of Chhara community in Naroda have reportedly taken into custody Jadeja’s uncle Dablu who ran the racket from Ajmer.

The CID (Crime), which was till now operating from Sarkhej police station in connection with the investigation of Ashok Jadeja case, on Thursday shifted its base to Satellite police station. The move came in the wake of intelligence reports that victims from Chhara community might attack the accused in Sarkhej area where most of the victims live.
