The Non-Resident Indians’ Guardian Association (NRIGA) in the city has written to the Australian high commission in New Delhi, requesting that Australian government look into the racial violence against Indian students in Australia. The letter asked that the Australian government take immediate control of the situation and pointed out that since the country had given visas to these students, it was the government’s responsibility to protect them.

Requesting the Australian government to take stern action against those responsible for the violence, the letter said: “By doing so, you will be avoiding negativity taking place in the youth of both the countries.”
