Results will be announced by education minister Ramanlal Vora in the morning at around 10:30 am.
While students can get their results from GSHSEB’s official websites www.gseb.org, www.gipl.net and www.indiaresult.com, they can also avail the same from the helpline services made available by the board for students across the state. All they have to do is provide the officials with their roll numbers. Ahmedabad students can dial 079- 26851422 and 26850611 for knowing their results, while students from Surat and Baroda will have to dial 0261-2862459/60 and 0265-2322328, respectively.
This year, 7.76 lakh students appeared for the examination as against 6.93 lakh students who appeared in the previous year. More than 45,000 students appeared in the exam from Ahmedabad and its surrounding regions.
According to a source in the GSHSEB, this year the pass percentage is likely to be around 65-70 per cent, which is good news. Last year, of the 6.93 lakh students who sat for the exam only 4.38 lakh (63.58%) passed.
The government has increased the number of seats for diploma in professional courses like engineering, medical and pharmacy, and this means that greater number of students will get admission in colleges offering these courses, said the source.
The pass percentage of HSC results (73 per cent) was satisfactory, and the board officials believe that the SSC results are also going to be a pleasant surprise. Some of the teachers who examined the answer sheets also said that the pass percentage would be around 70 per cent.
