SP opposed to women's quota bill in 'present form': Mulayam

Even as several women MPs hoped that the long-pending women's reservation bill will soon be passed by Parliament, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today maintained that it was not acceptable to his party in the "present form".
    
"The Bill is not acceptable to us in its present form," Yadav told reporters outside Parliament when his opinion was sought on the matter. Yadav, whose party has been opposing the Bill so far demanding modifications into it, said "my opinion is the same
today what it was earlier".

Pressed further, Yadav shot back, "did Sonia ji become the country's leader through reservation? Has Meira Kumar today become Lok Sabha Speaker due to reservation."
    
He, however, parried a question on whether he would be opposing the Bill if it is brought before the Parliament, saying "let the Bill come before the Parliament then we will see."
