Five missing in Assam boat capsize

Five persons, including three women, were missing today when their boat capsized in
Gangadhar river in lower Assam's Dhubri district. The police said three persons who were earlier reported to have drowned, were rescued and the erroneous report was
attributed to communication gap.

Eight persons set out in a boat from Golakganj to Maisa island to tend cattle this morning and the cattle fell into the river. The boat sank in the river which swelled last night due to release of water from a dam and heavy rains in the area.
    
Search for the missing persons was continuing, the sources said, adding that district Deputy Commissioner Jatindra Lahkar along with police have rushed there to
supervise the search and rescue operations.
