After the National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance won all the three seats in J&K, chief minister Omar Abdullah feels it’s time the UPA government conceded the state’s demand for all-round development.

A truth and reconciliation commission to unravel the mystery behind the 20 years of turmoil in the state, revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, talks with separatists and a cabinet berth for patriarch Farooq Abdullah are some of the demands on the NC list.

Sources said the party wants Farooq to be suitably rehabilitated in the Union cabinet after the Congress opposed his claim to the chief minister’s post in January this year.

Omar said, “J&K needs a truth and reconciliation commission. For permanent peace, political stability and sustained development, all issues pertaining to J&K need urgent focus.”
