Ruling SAD-BJP alliance was leading in eight of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies in Punjab where counting commenced on Saturday morning.

SAD was leading in six constituencies of Faridkot, Jalandhar, Sangrur, Khadoor Sahab, Bhatinda and Ferozepur while its alliance partner BJP was ahead in Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur.

The Congress was leading in the remaining five constituencies of Anandpur Sahab, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahab, Ludhiana and Amritsar.

Lok Sabha deputy speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal was trailing behind his nearest rival Sukhdev Singh Libra of INC by 2207 votes from Fatehgarh Sahab.

Congress MP Preneet Kaur was leading by 22,000 votes over her nearest rival Prem Singh Chandumajra (SAD) from Patiala.

Preneet's son Raninder Singh was trailing by 3497 votes behind Harsimrat Kaur Badal (SAD), wife of deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal from Bathinda.

Former Indian Youth Congress president Manish Tewari was leading from Ludhiana by about 8000 votes over his nearest rival Gurcharan Singh Ghalib of Shiromani Akali Dal.

Cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu was trailing by 2000 votes from Amritsar behind his nearest Congress rival O P Soni.

Congress candidate Ravneet Singh Bittu was leading by about 10,000 votes from Anandpur Sahab over his nearest rival Daljit Singh Cheema of SAD.

Paramjit Kaur Gulshan (SAD) was leading by 2,100 votes over her nearest Congress rival Sukhvinder Singh Danny from Faridkot.

Singer-turned-politician Hans Raj Hans, who is contesting Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat as a SAD nominee, was leading by 1947 votes over his nearest rival Punjab Congress president Mohinder Singh Kaypee.

SAD candidates Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Rattan Singh Ajnala were leading their Congress rivals from Sangrur and Khadoor Sahab constituencies respectively.

While Dhindsa was leading by 393 votes over Vijay Inder Singh, Ajnala was ahead by 997 votes over Rana Gurjeet Singh.

Sher Singh Gubhaya (SAD) was leading by about 10,000 votes over his nearest rival Jagmeet Singh Brar (INC) from Ferozepur.

Actor-turned-politician Vinod Khanna was leading from Gurdaspur over his nearest rival Partap Singh Bajwa (INC) by 4,680 votes.

Som Parkash (BJP) was leading by 1273 votes over his nearest rival Santosh Chaudhary (INC) from Hoshiarpur.
