Many may be sceptical about the success of Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited’s (AJL) Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS), but international visitors, like a delegation from Tanzania and a representative of Afghanistan, have expressed the desire to study city’s approach to urban transportation system.

Municipal commissioner IP Gautam on Tuesday said, “A five-member delegation from Tanzania is expected to land in the city on Monday. They will meet the senior officials of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to study the BRTS and to come up with a similar kind, Dar Rapid Transit Agency (DRTA), in Tanzania.

The five members include regional commissioner Darussalam, permanent secretary of infrastructure development, chief executive of DRTA, director of Transport and director of system operation.

“We have received a number of delegates from across the country who wished to understand the BRTS concept, but it is for the first time that AJL will receive international delegates,” said Gautam. The AJL has geared up to complete the work in order to launch the most awaited BRTS buses.
