Describing Cauvery water row among the southern states as sensitive, prime minister Manmohan Singh today said that a permanent solution has to be found out to the vexed issue.
"Cauvery is a sensitive issue. Efforts have been made (to resolve the dispute)," he said at a press conference here.
The prime minister said a permanent solution has to be found out to the problem, which involves Tamil Nadu,Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry. "If we come back to power, we will give it a priority," he said.
The sharing of Cauvery water among the riparian states remains a ticklish issue during the summer months with Tamil
Nadu demanding its share of water from Karnataka.
