Rebate scheme helps AMC earn Rs 67 crore

The revenue department of the AMC received an overwhelming response for its 10 per cent rebate scheme for advance property tax payment.

The revenue department had introduced the scheme for only a month with effect from April 1 this year. During this period the revenue department paid more than Rs5.61 lakh as rebate on Rs67.22 crore collected as property tax.

A senior official of the revenue department said, "Although April 30 was a polling day, the civic centres remained open since it was the last day for the payment of property tax in advance. Property tax amounting to over Rs3 crore was collected on Thursday
