Two rival political parties clash with each other in Andhra Pradesh causing the police to fire in the air to solve the problem.

Police fired in air to quell clashing groups of rival political parties at two different places in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh during the second phase of elections on Thursday.

Reports of violence were received from four places in Kadapa, home district of Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, leading to police firing.

Police fired 30 rounds in air to disperse supporters of TDP and Congress who clashed at Nagasanipalli village under Maidukur assembly segment after hurling country made crude bombs at each other, a senior police officer from Kadapa said.

Women threw slippers on Congress contestant and security personnel leading to a mild cane charge at Chapadu mandal.

"The situation was brought under control immediately," the police officer said.

The police also fired three rounds in the air to control violent groups at Kuchhurpapaypalli in Chapadu Mandal of the district.

A report reaching here said TDP and Congress workers hurled crude bombs on each other near a polling booth at Chinnagulagannur village also under Maidukur assembly segment.

Stray incidents of violence between TDP and Congress workers was reported from Goriganur village of Jamalmadagu mandal of Kadapa district, police said, adding no one was injured.

Meanwhile, police said tension gripped the Gouravaram village in Jaggamiahpet assembly constituency as TDP and Congress workers clashed, injuring one TDP activist and damaging ten vehicles.

Superintendent of Police Nalgonda town said the situation has been brought under control.
