Madonna hospitalised after riding accident

Queen of Pop Madonna was hospitalised after being thrown off a horse while riding.

The accident occurred when a paparazzo hiding in the bushes, jumped out to click a picture of the star but startled the horse, which threw off the star and ran off.

The 50-year-old suffered "injuries and bruises" in the accident which took place in New York's posh suburb of Southampton, People magazine reported.

Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg, said that the star had only suffered "minor" injuries, and had already been released from hospital .

Rosenberg added that further medical tests are to be conducted and doctors will continue to observe Madonna.

Madonna had suffered a similar accident in 2005 while at Ashcombe, her country estate outside London, which left her with several broken bones, including cracked ribs and a broken collarbone.
