It is the love and expectations of fans that turned her into a serious singer from a
self-confessed carefree girl, Indian Idol 4 winner Saurabhee Debbarma said on Thursday.

"I was very naughty and was never serious about my life and career. But the love and expectations from my fans put a lot of pressure on me. I have a responsibility to stand up to their expectations," Saurabhee said after launching her first solo album 'Meherbaan' in the city on Thursday.

Recalling her childhood days, she said she used to dream of seeing her photograph on a CD and having her own album. "That has come true today," she exulted.

The album from Sony Music has two new songs - 'Meherbaan' and 'Hai Dua' and the remaining five songs are her rendition of Bollywood songs.

"The songs in the album reflect my versatility as a singer. I had delibarately sung a variety of songs," she said.

Praising the format of the reality show Indian Idol, the Agartala girl said, "I have now become a complete performer because of the uniqueness of the show. This is the
best platform that I could have landed on."

Asked how she could manage to bring out an album just a month after she won the talent hunt show, Saurabhee said she worked hard so that her fans don't get disappointed by any delay in launching the album.

"I am no more on television now as the show is over. So, I ensured that something must be there for them as soon as possible," she said.

She has now shifted herself to Mumbai from her home-town Agartala. On what kind of songs she would like to sing, she said she would like to have a mix of tradition and modernity in her songs.

"Traditions and culture are very important. But I also have to keep in mind what people like to hear. So I don't mind doing Bollywood and peppy numbers," she quipped.
