Revenge may have been the reason behind the killing of Majid Rehmatullah Saiyed, said Vejalpur police on Wednesday. Saiyed, 30, was stabbed to death by six persons near a tea stall at Hazi Baba Ni Pole, Juhapura under Vejalpur police station on Tuesday night.
MC Patel, inspector, Vejalpur police station, told DNA that around five years back, Saiyed was allegedly involved in the murder of Ismaiel Noor Phir Saiyed at Sami village in Patan. Saiyed and Ismail belonged to the same village and had some dispute over finances. Jabbar Noor Phir Saiyed, brother of Ismaiel, took revenge of the killing, said police.
Vejalpur police said six persons, including Jabbar, Latif Ismail, Sattar Hemo Kazi and Suleman Karim, were suspected in the murder of Majid Saiyed and a massive hunt was on to nab them. Majid Saiyed, sources said, was arrested in Ismail murder case and lodged in Porbander jail. He was sentenced to 14-year imprisonment, but Jabbar was not satisfied with that and had been waiting for a chance to take revenge.
As Saiyed had come out of jail on 15-day parole on April 4, Jabbar had prior knowledge about his movements. Saiyed had gone to the tea stall along with his brother Mohammed Rehmatullah Saiyed, Imran and uncle Suleman when six persons reached the spot, and beat them up with iron rods and baseball sticks. The assailants stabbed Saiyed and fled from the spot leaving the baseball sticks behind. The Vejalpur police have seized the sticks and also a pair of slippers from the spot.
PI Patel said it appeared a pre-planned murder as Jabbar had prior information about Saiyed’s movement. Sources said Jabbar was also an accused in case of murder of a Bajrang Dal activist at Sami village in Patan one year back.
