Jarnail Singh, the journalist who was in the news for hurling a shoe at union home minister P Chidambaram at a press conference few days back, on Monday paid obeisance at the 'Harmandir Sahib' (Golden Temple) here.

Singh, who was met by SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar at the information centre, said he had turned down the job of media adviser in the Committee offered by him.

The journalist said his act was not "pre-meditated" but an "emotional outburst".

"My act was not pre-meditated as it was emotional outburst and protest against injustice meted out to the victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots. I understand that the way of my protest could be breach of journalistic ethics but breach of justice is more reprehensible and brazen," he said.

Singh said that he was "not inclined to join politics and will not work for any political party."

"I would like to continue in my profession of journalism, but now it depends on the organisation where I was working which has hinted at disciplinary action. After the incident I did not attend my office which may decide future of my profession," he added.

The scribe was here along with his family.
