Gunfight continues for second consecutive day in JK

The gun battle between security forces and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JEM) militants continued for the second consecutive day on Monday in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.

A JeM militant was killed and an army officer was injured in the gunfight which broke out at Aglar-Kandi village, 50 kms from here, in the wee hours on Sunday when some militants, who were holed up in a house opened fire on the security forces during search operation, the sources said.

The gun battle was still continuing and efforts are on to neturalise the militants, they said.

An Army Captain, who was injured in the encounter, has been shifted to the army base camp in Srinagar, where his condition was stated to be stable.
