Saif Ali Khan seems to be treading on thin ice. The actor will have to put in around eight hours of intense physical training to develop an eight pack for his next film Agent Vinod. So what, you may ask, as a lot of actors have done it in the past. However, the issue here is Saif’s health, which has not been in the best of shape over the past couple of years.

Saif had to be hospitalised in 2007 after complaining of chest pain. Doctors had asked him to follow a strict diet and control stress. A source says, “Apart from developing an eight pack, Saif will also have to shed around five kilos to develop a lean but chiselled torso. He was supposed to undergo five months of training. However, he has been travelling a lot lately and so he couldn’t hit the gym at all. Though he is in good shape, to develop an eight pack, one needs constant exercising.”

So now the work that he needed to do in five months will now have to be done in just one month. That automatically makes the training an intensive and exhausting one.

“This raises concern about his health as he has been hospitalised frequently. His diet is also under check. He had to quit smoking after he was hospitalised. How Saif handles such an exhaustive exercise regime is to be see,” adds the source.

Saif’s personal trainer Satyajit Chaurasia says, “His travelling has been a bane to his training. He needs to train a lot and the last one month will be very tiring and strenuous. But he is willing to push himself to the limit. To increase his stamina, he has been doing cardio every day even though he has been travelling. Once he gives full time to the gym, the real challenge will start. We will definitely give his health the priority but to develop what he wants he has to put in a lot. All the exercises put together can go up to even eight hours.”

Saif’s health issues
Saif was hospitalised in 2006 and 2008 after complaining of abdominal pain. He had to undergo appendectomy surgery three years ago while shooting in Kuala Lumpur. Then in February 2007 he was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital after complaining of massive chest pain while rehearsing for his performance for a film awards function.
