The city sessions court granted anticipatory bail to legal advisor of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) Janak Shah. Shah had been charged with selling land falling under the jurisdiction of AUDA at rates lower than the market price.

Shah along with AUDA CEO JG Pandya and mamltadar PJ Damor was allegedly involved in selling off over 12,000 sq metres of land in Sardarnagar to one Amit Dutta of Panetar hotels at rates lower than market prices in violation of norms.

ACB had registered a complaint against the three on the grounds that they had not protected the financial interests of AUDA.

In his bail application, Shah had said he had only discharged his professional duty and had only broadly suggested that the settlement, as proposed by Panetar hotels, could be accepted.
