Take a room full of partygoers, arm them with a set of wireless headphones, give them three DJs to choose from and watch this mass of people singing along and throwing moves to what appears to others as complete silence. DJ Justin Mason’s unique concept Silent Noise creates exactly this picture.

He uses wireless headsets allowing partygoers to enjoy without disturbing others. His club Neptunes Point has been an attraction at Palolem, Goa, for this year’s tourist season. The concept is incredible in the sense that it can beat the sound ban norms. And if all goes well, the concept of silent partying will be in Mumbai very soon.

The headphone concept though new to India has been used at various festivals in Europe. DJ Justin Mason, who travelled to India from the UK on a whim and decided to start this unique concept in Goa once he went back home, was kicked about introducing the idea of partying with headphones in India.

Now, Silent Noise is not just one club but one of the most original concepts in clubbing experience to emerge in  recent times. And it doesn’t end at that. The partying happens amidst massage chairs, acoustics around the bonfire, visuals and lazer shows. It transforms into a mini-festival. “Whether it is Goa or Mumbai, it is about operating within the laws, without having to compromise on the fun.”

Silent Noise happens every Saturday at the Neptunes Point in Palolem. Three DJs play live and you can choose which one you want to listen to. The music could be as varied as hiphop, house, trance and rock. The DJs too can keep track of who’s listening to their music by a tracking device.

Justin plans to bring the concept to Mumbai. “In Goa’s off season I plan to tour other cities with the concept, equipment and host of international DJs including Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune. End of April should be a good time. Things are just being worked out.”

Justin now lives in Goa and has roped in a lot of local people to run the club. He’s been a DJ since the late 80s playing throughout the infamous summer of love when the house music revolution started, with guest appearances on London’s first underground pirate radio station.
