Chidambaram discusses security scenario with Advani

In the backdrop of renewed threat perception to VVIPS, home minister P Chidamabaram on Thursday held a meeting with Leader of the Opposition LK Advani and discussed the security scenario in the country.

Chidambaram, who drove to the senior BJP leader's residence on Thursday morning, is understood to have discussed the security situation ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, sources said.

Advani, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, is in the list of politicians that includes Congress president Sonia Gandhi, BJP chief Rajnath Singh and Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, who face a threat to their lives as per the assessment of the Intelligence Bureau.

During the 20-minute meeting, the home minister advised Advani to refrain from undertaking unscheduled visits to different parts of the country during the campaign trail, the sources said.
