Taking a cue from movie Ajay Devgan starrer Apharan, four persons kidnapped a businessman’s son. However, crime branch sleuths spoiled their plan by nabbing three out of four alleged kidnappers involved in the act.
According to information received, Mohsin Khan, Aslam Rangooni, Abdul Ranguni and Mohammad Shahid (who is at large) had kidnapped Mihir Mistry, 24, a resident of Somnath Society, Parle Point, on Tuesday night.
Mohsin, who is the main accused in the case, admitted during interrogation that he got inspiration from the movie, which was released three years ago.
He had monitored all his activities before carrying out the operation. Mohsin expressed regret for the act and said that the incident has spoiled his life completely.
Mihir was returning with his friends after playing snooker when he was kidnapped. His father, Haresh Mistry, is into embroidery business. After moving around the city, on Wednesday, at around 8 am, Mistry called up his mother Nirmala and narrated the whole incident. The abductors did talk to his father and demanded ransom of Rs1 crore.
The Mistrys immediately informed the crime branch, who began massive hunt without wasting a minute. Around 3 pm, the cops traced the car near Navsari bazaar, cordoned it off and arrested three persons from there. However, one person manage to flee.
DCP Subhash Trivedi monitored the entire case and personally wished every official associated with the case. Police sources said that to make a safeguard in the plan, Mohsin changed the car and roamed entire night in a Santro car owned by his relative.
He was so much desperate in finalizing the deal that even lowered the ransom from Rs1 crore to Rs20 lakh, but could not finish the deal.
