Militant killed in police encounter near LoC

An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces near the Line of Control (LOC) in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
 
The militant was killed by the troops of 12 JAK rifles of the Army in the area of D-Dori near the LOC following an ambush, the spokesman said.

He said Army had lodged a report with police post at Kralpora on Monday stating that intelligence inputs indicated the presence of militants in the area.

An AK 47 rifle, four magazines, four hand grenades, a wireless set and Rs 600 were recovered from the the slain militant, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman said both the militants killed by security forces at Moshwara village in Pulwama district on Monday were identified as Pakistani nationals affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammad (JEM) outfit.
 
The militants were identified as Abu Hamza and Abdullah Pathan, both residents of Pakistan.
