Just when the health officials in Modasa taluka were assured about coming out of swirls of the deadly Hepatis B, one more person succumbed to the disease in Modasa general hospital on Tuesday. The victim, Jassi Natt, a resident of Aandapur was admitted to general hospital on Monday.

“With Natt’s death, the total death toll of Hepatitis B has reached 64,” said the taluka health officials. “We will be on our toes to fight the deadly disease, since still there are about 11 Hepatitis B patients going under treatment in general hospital.”

DM Dave, the superintendent of general hospital said, “Natt was admitted to general
hospital on Monday. Her medical history stated that she was suffering from TB and had changed around five doctors for the treatment. Neither she completed her medicinal course, nor got her week-long fever treated seriously. When admitted, she was in such critical condition that we could not save her life.”

Assistant health official in Modasa, HS Patel said, “We are working on to complete the round of medical treatment for rest of the taluka. Last death due to Hepatitis B was registered in Modasa a week before. We will have to work tirelessly to prevent the
disease till six months of the last registered case.”
