Scion of the Scindia family and Congress candidate from Guna Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh, Jyotiraditya Scindia visited Ahmedabad on Tuesday to meet Congress workers ahead of the LS polls next month. The face of Congress’s youth politicians, Scindia spoke about the radical reforms undertaken for postal department
during his tenure as minister of state for communication and information technology.

On the controversy surrounding the Indian Premier League, Scindia endorsed the shift of the IPL venue outside the country. He said elections were the primary focus for the country right now. “The issue of shifting IPL is between government and the cricket board. We should refrain from politicising the issue. Several states, including Gujarat, had refused permission to conduct IPL concurrently with elections,” he said, addressing the media on Tuesday.

Refusing to be drawn into controversy regarding Varun Gandhi’s ‘hate speech’ and EC’s appeal to the BJP to withdraw his candidature from Philibit, Scindia said, “Whoever wants to break the nation is not good for the nation.”

Talking about the string of measure taken by the UPA government in the last five years, the politician exuded confidence about the Congress reaping the benefits of the measures and improving its seat tally in Gujarat in the coming elections.
