Vikram Madam, outgoing MP, and Cong candidate for Jamnagar says he has strong support of party workers and will win a 2nd term.

Despite opposition from the local municipal corporation and other political leaders in the state government, I have given the best to the constituency.

I have set up a system for a fortnightly monitoring of every development work being carried out in the region. I have spent about Rs2.04 crore on the uplift of  Dalits. As per the guidelines, it is mandatory for an MP to use 15% of his grant on Schedule Castes (SCs) and 7.5% on Schedule Tribes (STs).

I have bought important medical equipment for GG Hospital and given money to a community for building a community hall. I have given around Rs3 lakh for different projects like roads and tried to ensure the optimum use of the funds. Apart from using the MPLAD funds, I have worked towards development of different Jamnagar ports, bringing railway projects like model railway station to Dwarka, development of Dwarka Temple and Rajkot-Jamnagar four-lane highway.

It was my efforts that ensured the Rs25 crore central grant for the development of Dwarka Temple. Although many are trying to ensure that I am not elected for a second term, I am confident of getting a second consecutive term as an MP from Jamnagar. I have a strong support of many committed Congress workers and former MLAs, and district leaders from all castes and communities will help me.

On his poor attendance in Lok Sabha, he defends himself. "Travelling to Delhi from Jamnagar and coming back is very time consuming. Also, the timing of the connecting flight is such that any kind of delay will mean that I will miss the flight to Delhi and thus won't be able to reach on time. Trains are too time-consuming. Also, I was in hospital for a while because of an appendix operation and thus failed to attend parliament during that period.
