Gang targeted girls near schools

Kamla Tanreja and Jaywanti Gangwani, who are in police custody after their arrest in child-lifting and porn film racket, have divulged more about the modus operandi adopted by them to trap girls. According to sources, the duo and their groups used to target schoolgirls near schools.

Crime branch ACP, Usha Rada said, “Based on the interrogation of Kamla and Jaywanti, we have gathered information that girls were picked from isolated places while they were returning from schools.” Rada also said that Kamla had admitted that around three years back, the gang had sold a girl in Kubernagar. The girl was picked up from Pune and was sold for around Rs70,000.

Crime branch sources also said Jaywanti was handling the task of money distribution for the gang. “She used to decide how much to be paid to persons involved in the operation,” sources added.

According to police, the gang was busted as it was trying to get a foothold in Ahmedabad.

It had succeeded in establishing a network in other cities of the state. Girls trapped by the gang were sent to Kamla in Pune.
