BSP supremo Mayawati on Sunday accused successive Congress Governments at the Centre of doing nothing for the common man and underlined it as the factor which has led to the rise of both poverty and terrorism in the country.

"The Congress governments at the centre after independence did nothing for the common man due to which poverty and terrorism is on the rise", Mayawati alleged at an election rally here which also saw former SP MP Harivansh Sahay and his supporters joining the BSP.

Promising reservation to the poor among the upper caste people if voted to power at the Centre, she said she had written to the Centre several times in this regard but it paid no heed to the matter.

Asking people not to trust the propaganda launched by the opposition parties against the BSP, she said they should vote in favour of the party come what may.

Claiming that if voted to power at the Centre, she would create history by initiating a string of development projects, Mayawati said with her formula of "sarvajan hitay, sarvajan sukhay" (for the benefit and happiness of all) she would ensure that the benefits of welfare activities reach the common man.

Stating that the BSP has fielded people of all castes for the coming Lok Sabha polls, she asked the people to ensure that the party won the maximum number of seats.
