Reacting sharply to the alleged inflammatory speeches of Varun Gandhi, RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Sunday, said had he been the home minister, he would have ensured that Gandhi is sent behind the bars.

"Had I been the home minister of the country or had it been in may capacity, I would have ensured that Varun Gandhi and the leaders of the party in which he is are sent behind the bars," Lalu told reporters here.

Terming Gandhi as "mere a tool", he warned people against the alleged larger communal agenda of the Sangh Parivar.

"They want to communalise the atmosphere before the election," he said adding that use of such provocative language against a community before the election is highly condemnable.

Lalu also rubbished suggestions that IPL matches are not being held in some Congress-ruled states saying, "It's a useless talk. What Congress or any party has got to do with it?"

He also did not find any fault in the IPL matches being held outside India. In a lighter vein, he said, "Sports has no boundary. My son will also get a chance to go abroad."
