To avoid embarrassment and escape police custody, a man, accused of tricking two students of class V and taking them for a movie after school, jumped off from the first floor of Jhaveriwad police chowki under Kalupur police station on Thursday.

The accused Manoj Madan Parmar, who hails from Bharuch and works for a music band in Manekchowk, sustained minor injuries and was admitted in the VS hospital.
Parmar was being taken to the police station by Navin Prajapati, father of one of the kids and a resident of Nagjibuda ni Pol in Manekchowk, when he tried to escape and jumped from the first floor of the police station.

According to case details, Mohan Parmar and his cousin Chintu, both 10 years old and studying in New Education School, reached home two hours late after school on Wednesday. When Prajapati asked his son Mohan why he was late, the kid informed that a stranger had taken them to Roopali cinema hall for watching a film and had also bought them candies and wafers, said a source in the police station.

When Prajapati went to the school on the following day, he identified Parmar with the help of his son. “When he asked Parmar why he took the kids for a film, the latter said that he was fond of watching movies so he asked the kids to accompany him. Sensing mischief, Prajapati caught hold of him and dragged him to the police station where he tried to escape,” added the source.

Vipinbhai, an eye witness who saw Parmar taking the kids to the cinema hall, said that the accused was taking the children forcefully.

KM Bajat, ASI at Jhaveriwad police chowki, said that he was posted at a school for board exam management at the time of the incident. “When I was informed about the incident, I rushed to the police station.” Parmar has been admitted in the VS hospital, but tried to escape from there, too. Hospital authorities have beefed up security and are keeping a watch on him. When contacted, PI at Kalupur police station MC Patel said that he was unaware of the incident.
